Job Description: Club Director
  Position Type: Part-Time Contract (25 hours/week)
 Salary: £18,000 per annum
 Location: Jersey Squash and Racketball Club
 Reporting Line: Club Officers

Day to Day reporting: Club VP

 About the Club

 The Jersey Squash and Racketball Club is a thriving rackets club and community based at the St Clements Sports Hub. We have five courts including a show court for exhibition matches and strong team and individual squash and Racketball leagues. We hold two very successful and growing festivals each year; a Racketball festival just after Easter and a squash festival in October. Our junior development programme is amongst the best attended to be found anywhere. Outside of the playing of sport we have an active and vibrant members bar. 

Like many clubs we have a loyal but aging membership and we need to bring in new adult members of any standard into playing. The primary role of this new position is to develop new initiatives to attract new adult members to the club but also to develop the pay & play option to tie in with the public access ethos of the St Clements Sports Hub. 

  
 Purpose of the Role
 
 The Club Director is responsible for the operational management, member engagement, and strategic development of Jersey Squash and Racketball Club. This role combines administrative oversight, facility coordination, with a specific remit to grow the adult membership, and community-building initiatives to ensure the club runs efficiently and continues to grow. 

 The role does not include junior squash development which is the responsibility of Squash Academy Lead nor anything more than minor maintenance of the infrastructure which will be undertaken by others.  
 

The Responsibilities

1. Club Administration & Financial Oversight
  • Manage all member communications, including email correspondence and complaint handling
 • Process new memberships and maintain accurate records
 • Monitor club finances, including budgeting, purchasing, and reporting to the Treasurer
 • Ensure compliance with Jersey employment and data protection regulations- ensure smooth introduction and ongoing first line management/ support of the Manage My Match club management system and Epos Now till. 
 
  2. Facilities & Maintenance
  • Conduct daily checks to maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality
 • Perform light cleaning and basic DIY tasks
 • Identify and escalate maintenance issues to relevant contractors (e.g. plumbing, electrics, cleaning services)
 
  3. League & Event Coordination
  • Organise and manage individual and team squash and Racketball leagues
 • Initiate and Coordinate internal competitions, fixtures, and member-led events with  initiatives ideas as to new types of events such as a corporate league, rusty players league ( to bring in lapsed players)  and similar 

 4. Membership Growth & Retention
  • Recruit a minimum of 20 new members per season, focusing on adults aged 20–50. 
 • Develop structured pathways for new members, including welcome activities and integration into club life
  
 5. Bar & Hospitality Management
  • Oversee bar operations including stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination. Using the epos now system. 
 • Set up and manage the new tea system
 • Plan and manage staffing rotas for consistent bar service
 • Promote bar usage and social events to enhance member experience

- develop a proposal for cooling the keg room. 

  6. Revenue Development & Community Engagement
  • Develop new income streams aligned with club values
 • Expand social membership and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment
 
 
 Flexi Hours & Additional Income
 
 While the contracted salary covers 25 hours per week, the Club Director is expected to commit to a full working week (minimum 37.5 hours) where the difference between contracted hours and a full working week is met from private coaching lessons, group sessions and similar well advertised activities 
 Reporting & Governance
 
 • The Club Director reports directly to the Club Officers, day to day to the VP regarding all matters except the bar, where reporting to SG. 
 • Attendance at weekly operational meetings is required
 • Submission of monthly KPI reports covering membership, revenue, engagement, and operational metrics is mandatory
 
 

Experience / Qualifications / Education

• England Squash Level 2 Coaching Award (minimum)
 • Enhanced DBS check, Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificate, and valid First Aid qualification
 • Entitlement to work in Jersey
 • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and practical skills
 • Experience in club, hospitality, or sport management is desirable
