The Position

Due to the continued growth and success of our tax practice, we have an exciting opportunity for a Tax Manager with UK tax experience to join our growing team.

The individual shall assist the Tax Leadership Team in ensuring the team is motivated to perform, and must be committed to effective client service, with the quality of work meeting the company’s ethical and professional standards and supports organisational success.  

Although the role is seeking a Tax Manager, we also welcome applications from individuals who may be at Assistant Manager or Senior Manager level.

The Responsibilities

  • Takes responsibility, in conjunction with the Tax Leadership team, for the provision of UK tax compliance and advisory services to our clients. 
  • Responsible for own portfolio of complex and diverse clients. Will review, and in some cases prepare, UK tax returns.

> ensures accuracy and timely preparation to meet deadlines;

> ensures files are completed to a high standard, clearly highlighting any issues;

>  endeavours to exceed client expectations. 

  • Liaises with authorities, including HMRC, regarding tax queries in a knowledgeable and informative manner and responds in an efficient and timely way. 
  • Is forward looking with regards to approaching deadlines and work flows and develops internal processes within the department to ensure deadlines are met and work turnaround times are good. 
  • Takes ownership of more advisory/research work, uses initiative to research work prior to Tax Leadership Team’s assistance. 
  • Monitors own and department’s WIP and ensures a positive contribution is made to departmental billings.  
  • Ensures the department’s KPIs are met, with assistance from the Tax Leadership Team. 
  • Responsible for the review of work prepared by the team and for the coaching and ongoing development of those staff, imparting knowledge where appropriate and taking necessary action when technical and professional expertise of team members is not at the required level. 
  • Understands the client base and is able to build relationships to ensure client retention and growth. 
  • Understands the firm’s products and services and identifies opportunities to cross-sell and aid the continued success and growth of the tax department. 
  • Pro-actively participates in business development activities and contributes to the process. 
  • Acts as an ambassador of the firm, building relationships and promoting the firm at every opportunity to facilitate new business opportunities.  

Experience / Qualifications / Education

  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and has the confidence to deal with people at all levels.
  • Has the ability to apply knowledge and experience and display initiative and lateral thinking coupled with the ability to solve non-routine problems and analyse data from a variety of different sources.
  • Is a team player but also has the confidence to work alone on engagements coupled with a flexible attitude and a proactive approach to work. Willing to work additional hours to meet deadlines as necessary.
  • Possesses excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure that the quality of work meets the company’s ethical and professional standards and supports organisational success
  • Is motivated to perform and committed to effective client service 
  • Has at least five years’ relevant experience (although individuals with less experience are still welcome to apply). 
  • Individuals with UK Corporate Tax experience are particularly sought after for this role, as are those with experience in UK taxation as it applies to UK property owning structures (this is not however essential.) ·
  • We are also very interested to receive applications from individuals with UK private client, IHT, VAT and trust tax experience. 
  • Holds a relevant professional qualification.  Candidates with ATT and/or CTA qualifications (or part qualifications) are particularly sought after.
