The Position
We are looking for a NOC Technician to join us on a permanent basis. You will play a key role in keeping our network running smoothly, monitoring alarms and network taps to spot early signs of service degradation. Acting as the first line of response, you will use Tier 1 skills across a range of technologies to investigate and resolve issues quickly and effectively.

The Responsibilities
- Take part in a 24/7 shift rota over 4 days, ensuring continuous monitoring and support of network services
- Carry out scheduled maintenance activities and the deployment of patches across JT and customer environments
- Monitor, analyse and respond to network and threshold alarms, identifying issues early
- Provide first line support and make timely escalations to the Technical Centre or Networks teams, including retainer callouts where required
- Act as the initial response for Risk to Life incidents (role may require Police Background / Security Clearance)
- Manage trouble tickets and service incidents end to end, including accurate logging, investigation, updates and resolution
- Review the outcomes of planned works and maintenance activities, escalating concerns where necessary
- Support testing of new NOC tools, systems and technology platforms
- Deliver clear, thorough handovers between shifts to maintain service continuity
- Take a lead role during shifts, supporting and coaching NOC Analysts or other colleagues assigned to the NOC
- Assist with answering and routing emergency calls to 999 / 112 when required
- Required - Need to clear NPPV2 vetting level
Experience / Qualifications / Education
- Hold, or commit to obtaining ITIL Foundation, Network+, and during time with NOC to work towards CCNA or other relevant technical qualification
- Strong analytical skills, with a committed approach to seeing issues through to resolution
- A proven interest in technology with the capability to learn and understand how the monitoring solutions support and improve JT’s networks and end user experience
- The ability to quickly learn new methodologies
- Prior experience of working within a technical service / faults desk environment would be desirable
- Ability to communicate calmly, clearly, and effectively with colleagues from all areas of the business, along with Customers, Wholesale partners, Suppliers and any third parties
- Forward thinking, with ability to pre-empt likely questions and cover with detail to maintain a right first time approach to all communications
