The Position
About Ignis Safety Consultants
Ignis Safety Consultants Ltd, also known as ISC, is the longest-established fire safety consultancy based in the Channel Islands.
We support clients across Jersey, Guernsey and the wider Channel Islands with fire risk assessments, fire engineering consultancy, fire safety strategies, compartmentation surveys, training, compliance support and specialist technical advice.
Ignis has built a strong reputation for professional, practical and technically robust fire safety work. Our clients include commercial organisations, residential property managers, construction professionals, care providers, public sector bodies and high-risk premises.
We are now looking for an organised, confident and ambitious person to join our team and support the continued growth of the business.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career who wants to join a respected professional consultancy and develop within a specialist industry.
You do not need fire safety experience or technical knowledge. Full support and training will be provided.
The role is focused on client communication, administration, job coordination and general business support. You will work closely with our directors, consultants and wider team to help ensure that client enquiries, projects, reports, invoices and day-to-day operations are handled professionally and efficiently.
Main Duties
Your duties will include:
- Monitoring company email inboxes
- Answering incoming phone calls
- Taking clear messages and passing enquiries to the correct person
- Responding to general client correspondence
- Helping coordinate surveys, assessments, meetings and site visits
- Supporting diary management and job planning for the team
- Preparing draft fee proposals and quotations using company templates
- Creating and issuing invoices
- Sending reports and documents to clients
- Keeping job records, client files and internal systems up to date
- Chasing access details, purchase orders and client information
- Assisting with general office administration
- Supporting directors and consultants with day-to-day business tasks
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Organised, reliable and willing to learn
- Confident communicating by phone and email
- Professional, polite and well-presented
- Able to take clear notes and follow instructions
- Comfortable using computers, email and office software
- Able to work well as part of a small professional team
- Proactive and willing to help where needed
- Interested in building a career within a respected local business
Previous office experience would be useful, but it is not essential. Attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are more important.
What You Do Not Need
You do not need to be a fire safety expert.
You will not be expected to answer technical fire safety questions. Technical enquiries will be passed to one of our consultants.
What we do need is someone who can communicate clearly, stay organised, support the team and help keep the business running smoothly.
Career Development
This role has real potential to grow.
For the right person, this could develop into a wider role in operations, client support, office management, project coordination or business administration.
You will gain experience working inside a specialist consultancy, supporting professional fire safety work across a wide range of buildings, clients and projects.
Hours
Full-time or part-time options may be considered for the right candidate.
How to Apply
Please send your CV and a short covering message explaining why you are interested in joining Ignis Safety Consultants.
Experience / Qualifications / Education
We welcome applications from school leavers, college leavers, graduates and candidates with previous administrative experience.
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above are desirable.
Previous experience in administration, customer service, hospitality, retail, reception, or office environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
Full training and support will be provided.
Benefits
At ISC, we believe in rewarding commitment, supporting development, and providing a flexible working environment where people are trusted to do their job well.
Benefits include:
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience, skills and working arrangement
- ISC is committed to paying above Jersey Living Wage
- Flexible working arrangements, with full-time and part-time opportunities available

- Genuine opportunities for career progression and increased responsibility as the company continues to expand
