The Position

An integral member of the JSPCA Management Team, the PR, Media and Fundraising Manager will develop and manage the public image of the Organisation through all types of media, communications, events, promotions, advertising and fundraising activities.

Full Time – 37 hours mainly office based however flexibility required to attend events, evenings and weekends.

You will be an excellent team player and will create a great place for your colleagues (staff and volunteers) to work.  

Whilst not directly responsible for your own staff team, you will support and develop staff from all areas of the organisation with the development of media and fundraising activity and knowledge.

You will look for ways to proactively involve volunteers with events and functions.

The Responsibilities

·         Development and management of the JSPCA Animals' Shelter brand, ensuring that maximum promotion and effectiveness is achieved in all marketing and fundraising activities

·         Development and implementation of a fundraising strategy.

·         Development, planning and delivery of fundraising activities and events in collaboration with colleagues & the JSPCA Committee.

·         Proactively develop good working relationships with all local media and press channels, local businesses and other organisations.

·         Preparation and distribution of timely and appropriate press releases.

·         Responding to media and public enquires, arranging and delivering interviews with a variety of media outlets.

·         Leading, development and management of the JSPCA social media pages (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google account & YouTube), JSPCA website and liaison with design company as required.

·         Development of ideas for new fundraising and marketing campaigns in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation, utilising a range of initiatives to reach target audiences through a variety of appropriate channels (social media, email, radio, TV etc).

·         Seeking out sources of new funds for the organisation through a variety of opportunities such as grant applications, corporate sponsorship, fund raising events and campaigns

·         Liaison with external vendors to deliver promotional events and campaigns

·         Negotiation with suppliers and sponsors to achieve maximum cost savings and revenue streams.

·         Building a wide network of proactive and engaged members, supporters, donors and sponsors.

·         Management of the JSPCA Membership, 100 Club and donors, including database, complying with data protection legislation.

·         Regularly communicate with all supporters and colleagues in an engaging and informative manner, ensuring understanding of project objectives.

·         Recruitment and Management of the fundraising and event Volunteers. 

Experience / Qualifications / Education

·         A recognised, relevant professional qualification and previous experience in a relevant role.

 ·         Previous experience of working within a charity or not for profit organisation.

 ·         Able to work on own initiative without immediate assistance from manager and take responsibility for getting things done within agreed parameters.

 ·         Able to plan and organise self and others.  Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude.

 ·         Ability to work under pressure and to agreed deadlines.

 ·         Excellent people and interpersonal skills enabling strong and effective working relationships with both staff and external third parties.

 ·         Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety compliance requirements and best practice.  Experience of assessing and managing operational risk relevant to the role, including the production of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).  

 ·         Knowledge of Data Protection requirements.

 ·         Able to analyse data and problem solve with innovative solutions.

 ·         Some knowledge and experience of managing delegated budgets.  

 ·         IT literate, including all major social media platforms.

 ·         Full, clean driving licence is desirable.
